Inhibit Herpes Virus by Avoiding These


28. High arginine foods

Arginine is an amino acid that increases the rate of replication of herpes viruses. In that sense, it’s an opposite of Lysine.

In the end, what matters is the ratio of arginine to lysine in the body. You want to avoid high arginine foods, and if you do ingest them, take some lysine soon after.

If you’re prone to breakouts then you should probably avoid supplementing it or eating foods that contain high amounts.

29. Citrus foods

High citrus foods can irritate the outside of the mouth and make that area more susceptible to breakouts. This one isn’t really something to be concerned about unless you get frequent cold sores.


30. Butyrate / Resistant starch

Butyrate is often a very helpful food item as it can help with gut function. It feeds good bacteria, and helps with brain function, and with stress.

Butyrate can reawaken herpes viruses such as EBV, HSV-1, and HSV-2. I would not worry about this if you are taking some supplements from the suggested list. 

Reawakening the virus could mean opportunity to kill off the hiding ones.


31. Spicy foodsspicy foods can trigger cold sore breakouts

I almost always get blisters on my lips about a day after I eat spicy foods.
