Dealing with Cognitive DissonanceHow to blast cold and genital sores - inhibit herpes virus

There’s been countless times when I’ve introduced ways to inhibit herpes virus to people, and they would turn blind eye or even show signs of anger. This is due to what is called cognitive dissonance. It occurs when one is presented with a fact that goes against there current beliefs. This reaction brings on ignorance, fear, and even anger.

If you suffered from lifelong herpes, and this idea scare you or upset you, it’s okay. You can always set it aside for now, if you want to.

Briefing on Ways To Inhibit Herpes Virus

There are more than 100 different strain of herpes viruses that have been discovered, and 8 of them affects humans. They all have characteristics of their own. Here we teach you the top ways to inhibit herpes virus so that viral breakouts like genital sores, and shingles are kept at bay..

99% of the human population would have been infected by at least one type of herpes viruses in their lifetime. These viruses do not simply get eradicated, so they stay in our bodies just like how HIV would.

Most people will only have few herpes breakouts in their lifetime, thanks to the immune system not allowing the viruses to be expressed. But the viruses do stay dormant, and cause more issues than we think.

Thankfully, there are many scientific researches and anecdotes that direct us on ways to inhibit herpes virus.

The 8 Types of Human Herpes

  • Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1): Cold sores
  • Herpes simplex type 2 (HSV-2): Genital herpes
  • Varicella Zoster virus (VZV / HHV-3): Chickenpox
  • Epstein Barr virus (EBV / HHV-4): Mononucleosis, autoimmunity.
  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV / HHV-5)
  • Human herpes virus 6 (HHV-6)
  • Human herpes virus 7 (HHV-7)
  • Herpes virus 8 (HHV-8)

Associated Conditions to Herpes Virus Infection

  • Autoimmunity [1][2][3][4]
  • Multiple Sclerosis [5]
  • Parkinson’s [6]
  • Autism [7]
  • Low Thyroid Hormones [8]
  • Memory impairment [9]
  • Schizophrenia [10]
  • Epilepsy [11][12][13]
  • Bipolar [14]
  • Alzheimer’s [15][16]
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic fatigue [17][18][19]
  • Viral encephalitis [20]
  • Liver impairment [21]
  • Myelitis [22]
  • Diabetes [23]
  • Sweet’s syndrome [24]

Top Ways to Inhibit Herpes Virus

1. BHT

Effectively kills lipid coated viruses like herpes. Human trials are not permitted because it’s considered as a food preservative. This is probably one of the best arsenal to inhibit herpes virus. Use this along with St. John’s Wort for synergistic affect. If you’re B12 deficient then it might not work. [25][26][27]

2. Berberine

Antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus 1 [28][29]

(iHerb, Amazon)

3. Cat’s Claw

Powerful against herpes and many other pathogens. In one research, it was more effective in reducing symptoms of cold sores than acylovir [30][31].

4. Coconut oil

Extremely reliable and easy to take. Kills fungus and parasites like no one’s business. The body converts the coconut oil’s lauric acid into monolaurin, which has antiviral activity against herpes. If you get adverse reactions from coconut oil, simply take monolaurin.

5. Chlorine Dioxide

Chlorine dioxide is known to be a powerful pathogen killer and can inhibit herpes virus.

6. Curcumin

Blocks viral replication [32].

(iHerb, Amazon)

7. Elderberry

Antiviral activity against herpes viruses and HIV.

(iHerb, Amazon)

8. Fullerene C60

Known to be a potent antiviral.

9. Garlic

Potent antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial. Raw fresh garlic is the best. But Garlic extracts are also good [33].

(iHerb, Amazon)

10. Ginger

Able to inhibit acyclovir resistant HSV-1 [34]. Preferably boil a fresh ginger and then drink it as a tea.

(iHerb, Amazon)

11. Increasing CD8+ T cells

Deficiency in this immune department can lead to autoimmunity, often caused by Epstein Barr virus. Things that increase CD8+: Andrographis, Butyrate, NAC, Ashwagandha, Astragalus, Schisandra, and Gynostemma.

12. Iodine

This one is lacking in research, but the anecdotes suggests extremely high potential. One report notes that while other remedies worked somewhat okay to inhibit herpes virus, nothing came close to the efficacy of iodine [35].

13. Lemon Balm

Effective against HSV-1 and HSV-2 both drug sensitive and drug resistant strains. It also has calming properties [36][37].

(iHerb, Amazon)

14. Lithium

Consistent reduction in breakout frequencies and symptoms duration was noted while taking lithium [38].

(iHerb, Amazon)

15. Lysine

An amino acid that can potently inhibit the replication of herpes viruses. This is probably one of the most effective prophylactic for breakouts. Good option if you get frequent breakouts [39][40][41].

(iHerb, Amazon)

16. Memantine

An adamantane derivative that is used for treating Alzeheimer’s. It directly inhibits viral replication of herpes. It’s a potent mood enhancer and blunts anxiety [42].

17. Monolaurin

Kills any viruses that it’s tested against. Coconut oil has monolaurin so you can just eat more of it. Some people do not tolerate coconut oil so in that case use this instead.

(iHerb, Amazon)

18. Olive Leaf Extract

Strong antiviral, antibiotic, antifungal, and antiparasitic [43].

(iHerb, Amazon)

19. Reishi

Active against HSV-1. Perhaps avoid if you have an autoimmunity [44].

(iHerb, Amazon)

20. Resveratrol

Also contains emodin. Useful in eliminating HSV from brain and organs [45][46].

(iHerb, Amazon)

21. Silver

Very potent antiviral. This one is on the high priority to take [47].

(iHerb, Amazon)

22. St John’s Wort

Helps heal oral legions. May have synergistic effect when combined with BHT by allowing BHT to attack the dormant viruses. The research is lacking, however [48].

 (iHerb, Amazon)

23. Vitamin D

Increases CD8+. Many people have blocked vitamin D absorption due to infection. So make sure to take other supplements from the list. Take supplement, or get more sun [49]. Sometimes sun exposure can cause outbreaks.

(iHerb, Amazon)

24. Sulforaphane

Can protect from neurotoxicity caused by herpes encephalitis, and known to inhibit EBV. Use the supplement, or eat broccoli sprouts [50].

(iHerb, Amazon)

25. Vitamin B12

Important antiviral factor. Intranasal spray is preferable, otherwise, stick to methylcobalamine and adenosylcombalamine [51].

(iHerb, Amazon)

26. Vitamin C

Can inhibit the replication of herpes [52].

 (iHerb, Amazon)

27. Zinc

Useful as a prophylactic, and also supports the immune system [53][54].

Inhibit Herpes Virus by Avoiding These

28. High arginine foods

Arginine is an amino acid that increases the rate of replication of herpes viruses. In that sense, it’s an opposite of Lysine.

In the end, what matters is the ratio of arginine to lysine in the body. You want to avoid high arginine foods, and if you do ingest them, take some lysine soon after.

If you’re prone to breakouts then you should probably avoid supplementing it or eating foods that contain high amounts.

29. Citrus foods

foods to avoid to prevent herpes breakout

High citrus foods can irritate the outside of the mouth and make that area more susceptible to breakouts. This one isn’t really something to be concerned about unless you get frequent cold sores.

30. Butyrate / Resistant starch

Butyrate is often a very helpful food item as it can help with gut function. It feeds good bacteria, and helps with brain function, and with stress.

Butyrate can reawaken herpes viruses such as EBV, HSV-1, and HSV-2. I would not worry about this if you are taking some supplements from the suggested list.

Reawakening the virus could mean opportunity to kill off the hiding ones.

31. Spicy foodsspicy foods can trigger cold sore breakouts

I almost always get blisters on my lips about a day after I eat spicy foods.

Taking massive doses of the supplements I listed allows me to eat them without breakouts.

Reawakening herpes can bring a good opportunity to kill off the dormant viruses. So make sure you’re taking the supplements when you do this.

32. Space travel

Astronauts have about 80% herpes reactivation rate. Perhaps irrelevant to most of us, but if you know why this occurs, do leave a comment.

33. Sunlight

Sunlight is an important antiviral factor, and eases autoimmunity, but over exposure can lower the immune system. Even mild exposure can trigger breakout in some people (I have had this happen). Probably nothing to worry about if you are taking measurements to lower viral load.

34. Stress

There is no reason to actively avoid stressful situations because then you’re stressing out about getting stressed. Exposure to acute stress, mindfulness, and positive thoughts, increases resilience to chronic stress. Schisandra, ashwagandha, lysine, resveratrol, lemon balm, and memantine have antiviral and anti-stress benefits.
